Official opening of Ørsted Borssele 1&2 wind farm

Borssele 1&2, Ørsted's first wind farm in the Netherlands, has a capacity of 752MW. This makes the offshore wind farm the largest operational offshore wind farm in the Netherlands and the second largest worldwide. Offshore wind energy is a very important source of green energy for industry in Zeeland, so that business processes can be electrified.

State Secretary Dilan Yesilgöz-Zegerius of Economic Affairs and Climate:

“Borssele 1&2 was the first large-scale wind farm in the Netherlands. I am very pleased to see that the wind farm has been operational for a year now. Offshore wind energy now plays a crucial role in achieving our climate goals and I invite Ørsted to continue to play a role in realizing the energy transition.”

Over 660 journeys a day. That is the number of lorry journeys for incoming and outgoing goods and products – covering some 21,000 km, the majority of which are currently carried out by diesel lorries – that Volvo Car Gent generates every day on and around its site in the port area. To make these operations more sustainable, safer, but above all more efficient, the car manufacturer wants to test whether some of these journeys could be carried out autonomously in the future.
